IN the final game of the season, Burnham and Berrow entertained Mendip Spring in Division Three of the Avalon League. Before the game, Burnham were in a strong position, six points ahead of Worlebury, but they had to win at home. They ran out comfortable winners by four and a half to a half, gaining 10.5 points and ensuring promotion. Captain Neil Darby and the team can now look forward to next season in Division Two.
BURNHAM and Berrow Seniors took on Farrington at Wedmore Golf Club on Friday in the semi-final of the Somerset Seniors Bowl. They ran out winners by three and a half to one and a half and now face Clevedon in the final. The winning pairs were Robin Griffiths and Graham Gregg, David Lloyd and Steve Cartwright and Gordon Mackay and Nich Agar. John Pascall and Dr Harvey Sampson got the half and Peter Amos and Alex Kidd lost by just one hole. The venue for the final is yet to be decided.
JONATHAN Pitcher led the way as Burnham and Berrow members played for one of the oldest trophies in the Club history - the Kennard Cup.
Pitcher, off scratch, recorded a gross 71 to lead the field while second place went to Gareth Rees (gross 76, nett 72), followed by Justin Lane (gross 75, nett 73). The playing conditions were extremely difficult at times, with heavy rain showers, and this reflected in the standard scratch of 76 (par71).
Human and soil bacteria swap antibiotic-resistance genesPublic release date: 30-Aug-2012 [ | E-mail | Share ]

Soil bacteria and bacteria that cause human diseases have recently swapped at least seven antibiotic-resistance genes, researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis report Aug. 31 in Science.
According to the scientists, more studies are needed to determine how widespread this sharing is and to what extent it makes disease-causing pathogens harder to control.
"It is commonplace for antibiotics to make their way into the environment," says first author Kevin Forsberg, a graduate student. "Our results suggest that this may enhance drug resistance in soil bacteria in ways that could one day be shared with bacteria that cause human disease."
Among the questions still to be answered: Did the genes pass from soil bacteria to human pathogens or vice versa? And are the genes just the tip of a vast reservoir of shared resistance? Or did some combination of luck and a new technique for studying genes across entire bacterial communities lead the scientists to discover the shared resistance genes?
Humans only mix their genes when they produce offspring, but bacteria regularly exchange genes throughout their lifecycles. This ability is an important contributor to the rapid pace of bacterial evolution. When a bacterial strain develops a new way to beat antibiotics, it can share the strategy not only with its descendants but also with other bacteria.
Earlier studies by other scientists have identified numerous resistance genes in strains of soil bacteria. However, unlike the seven genes described in this report, the earlier genes were dissimilar to their analogs in disease-causing bacteria, implying that they had crossed between the bacterial communities a long time ago.
Most of the antibiotics used to fight illness today originated from the soil. Bacteria use the antibiotics, in part, as weapons to compete with each other for resources and survival. Scientists have long acknowledged that gives environmental bacteria an evolutionary incentive to find ways to beat antibiotics.
"We wanted to try to get a broader sense of how often and extensively antibiotic-resistance genes are shared between environmental bacteria and pathogens," says senior author Gautam Dantas, PhD, assistant professor of pathology and immunology.
The researchers isolated bacteria from soil samples taken at various U.S. locations. The bacteria's DNA was broken into small chunks and randomly inserted into a strain of Escherichia coli that is vulnerable to antibiotics. Scientists treated the altered E. coli with multiple antibiotics.
"We knew that any E. coli that continued to grow after these treatments had picked up a gene from the soil bacteria that was helping it fight the antibiotics," Forsberg says.
Scientists took the DNA from soil bacteria out of the surviving E. coli and prepared it for high-throughput sequencing. Dantas' laboratory has developed techniques that make it possible to simultaneously sequence and analyze thousands of chunks of DNA from many diverse microorganisms. The DNA can be selected for a single function, such as antibiotic resistance.
When the scientists compared antibiotic-resistance genes found in the soil bacteria to disease-causing bacteria, they were surprised to find some genes were identical not only in the sections of the genes that code for proteins but also in nearby non-coding sections that help regulate the genes' activities.
Since bacteria have such large population sizes and rapid reproduction times, their DNA normally accumulates mutations and other alterations much more quickly than the DNA of humans. The lack of changes in the resistance genes identified in the study suggests that the transfers of the genes must have occurred fairly recently, according to Dantas.
In some soil bacteria, the genes are present in clusters that make the bacteria resistant to multiple classes of antibiotics, including forms of penicillin, sulfonamide and tetracycline.
"I suspect the soil is not a teeming reservoir of resistance genes," Dantas says. "But if factory farms or medical clinics continue to release antibiotics into the environment, it may enrich that reservoir, potentially making resistance genes more accessible to infectious bacteria."

Most homeowners have planned a home improvement project at some point in their lives. The difference between doing so successfully and failing to do so can be a matter of degrees when you do not know what you are doing. If you want some useful, knowledgeable home improvement tips that you can instantly use, make sure you keep reading this article.
Put a stop to your squeaky floor by using construction adhesive. Go underneath your floor to apply the adhesive. Take a caulking gun and put glue on both sides of each floor joist, making sure that the glue binds the subfloor planks with the joists.
Watch for carpet installation sales at local locations of national home improvement retailers. Often, the store will provide installation very cheaply, in order to encourage buyers. These offers are well worth taking advantage of; depending on the details of your home, you may find that the labor that goes into installing new carpet is more expensive than the carpet itself.
A great way to improve a home?s exterior is to plant bright flowers. Choose plants that are in season. Also, keep shrubs trimmed and make sure the lawn is always mowed. A small amount of regular maintenance can make a big difference in the appearance of your home.
In order to enhance the curb appeal of your house, paint the garage door. Garage doors are easily worn and dingy due to regular exposure to things like sun and rain. New paint instantly transforms the look of a home and increases it?s value. Instead of putting in garage door in a regular color, try spicing things up.
Utilizing drywall mud to texture walls can add some visual interest and hide many imperfections. The process of texturing is not difficult. Once the drywall mud is troweled, you simply grab a brush with bristles, a sponge or an empty plastic bag, and then use whatever you grab to create texture on the drywall mud by dabbing.
The long blind cords in your home should be cut, tied or put in loops. Long or dangling cords pose a safety risk to small children and pets, who may become ensnared. Make sure that you leave enough cord to allow you to move blinds the way that they are meant to move. Give it a snip or tie it off to avoid accidents. One way to reduce the garbage you create is to develop a compost pile. It is easy to create a spot in your yard for a compost pile. You can compost eggshells, vegetables, coffee grounds and fruit peels. This reduces the amount of trash you put out on trash day, which can translate into a lower waste bill if you are charged by the bag or container.
Before you undertake any major home improvement project, it is in your best interest to create a well-laid plan. This allows you to concentrate on the task itself instead of leaving you distracted by details relating to cost and design. There are many venues in which you can get inspiration including your friends? homes, magazines, television and even home improvement stores.
One of the most commonly overlooked considerations for home improvement projects is finding an appropriate way to dispose of debris. If you are doing any demolition, you will have rubbish that you need to get rid of. At the beginning of any project, have a designated area for debris to be collected.
It?s worth repeating this point for emphasis: Home improvement doesn?t have to be hard to do. Getting good information for your home improvements will be easier if you follow this advice. Armed with this knowledge, you can realize the fruits of your labor much sooner than working with inadequate information.

Have you considered drafting a living will? Are you aware of what a living will is, and how it differs from a traditional last will and testament? If you have suffered severe health problems in recent times, a doctor or family member may have suggested this to you. Basically a living will is designed to direct medical professionals to heed your wishes should you become physically incapacitated and reliant on feeding tubes and machines. If you plan to draft such a document, you will want to work with an attorney experienced in elder law.As a legal document, the living will dictates whether or not you wish to have medical treatments prolong your life in the event you become seriously ill. Without this in place, should you end up in a coma your family and others could end up arguing over what they perceive are your final wishes. The absence of a living will was perhaps most evident in the case of Terry Schiavo, a young Florida woman who lapsed into a vegetative state with no documentation guiding doctors about steps to take.
Her husband and parents fought each other for years until courts finally sided with her husband, who allow physicians to remove life support. If you do not wish to spend an indefinite amount of time strapped to machines if you are confident you cannot survive without assistance, your final instructions will go unheeded if you do not have the legal documentation ready. Contacting a lawyer specializing in elder law is the first step in drafting your living will - which differs from a last will in that the latter is designed to disperse your assets after your death. The living will lets doctors know if they should prolong your life. When meeting with a lawyer to discuss your living will, it's important to glean as much information as possible before you make it official. This is the paper that could one day determine your fate, so you should definitely give serious thought to what you want it to say. That said, you should be prepared to ask many questions of your attorney. Some may include:1) Will you also work to draft a last will and/or living trust? The living trust differs from a living will in that it is concerned with your legal and financial issues while you are incapacitated. The living will handles your medical and health issues.2) Will I be able to revoke the living will? Find out the procedure for revoking the stipulations in this legal document if you change your mind.3) Who should serve as Power of Attorney? Is it better to assign this to a relative or somebody outside the family? Your lawyer can consult with you on this.4) What happens if family or others protest the living will? Your lawyer can advise you on the legal ramifications involved if somebody tries to defy your wishes.5) How soon should I draft one? For some, it's never too soon, but your attorney can discuss everything that is involved for you.A living will is designed to make operations involving your final health care wishes smooth. Not having this document in hand can cause problems should you be unable to speak for yourself. If you know your good health is short, it's a good idea to discuss drafting a living will with a reputable elder law firm.

ScienceDaily (Aug. 14, 2012) ? Cells grown on different types of scaffolds vary in their ability to help repair damaged blood vessels. Tissue implants made of cells grown on a sponge-like scaffold have been shown in clinical trials to help heal arteries scarred by atherosclerosis and other vascular diseases. However, it has been unclear why some implants work better than others.
MIT researchers led by Elazer Edelman, the Thomas D. and Virginia W. Cabot Professor of Health Sciences and Technology, have now shown that implanted cells' therapeutic properties depend on their shape, which is determined by the type of scaffold on which they are grown. The work could allow scientists to develop even more effective implants and also target many other diseases, including cancer.
"The goal is to design a material that can engineer the cells to release whatever we think is most appropriate to fight a specific disease. Then we can implant the cells and use them as an incubator," says Laura Indolfi, a postdoc in Edelman's lab and lead author of a paper on the research recently published online in the journal Biomaterials.
Aaron Baker, a former postdoc in Edelman's lab and now an assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin, is also an author of the paper.
Shape matters
For the past 20 years, Edelman has been working on using endothelial cells grown on scaffolds made of collagen as implantable devices to treat blood vessel damage. Endothelial cells line the blood vessels and regulate important process such as tissue repair and inflammation by releasing molecules such as chemokines, small proteins that carry messages between cells.
Several of the devices have been tested in clinical trials to treat blood vessel damage; in the new Biomaterials study, Edelman and Indolfi set out to determine what makes one such tissue scaffold more effective than another. In particular, they were interested in comparing endothelial cells grown on flat surfaces and those grown on more porous, three-dimensional scaffolds. The cells grown on 3-D structures tended to be more effective at repairing damage and suppressing inflammation.
The researchers found that cells grown on a flat surface take on a round shape in which the cells' structural components form a ring around the perimeter of the cell. However, when cells are grown on a scaffold with surfaces of contact whose dimensions are similar in size to the cells, they mold to the curved surfaces, assuming a more elongated shape. In those cells, the structural elements -- made of bundles of the protein actin -- run parallel to each other.
Those shapes determine what types of chemokines the cells secrete once implanted into the body. In this study, the researchers focused on a chemokine known as MCP1, which recruits inflammatory cells called monocytes.
They found that the architecture of the cytoskeleton appears to determine whether or not the cell turns on the inflammatory pathway that produces MCP1. The elongated cells grown on porous surfaces produced eight times less of this inflammatory chemokine than cells grown on a flat surface, and recruited five times fewer monocytes than cells grown on a flat surface. This helps the tissue implants to suppress inflammation in damaged blood vessels.
The researchers also identified biomarkers that correlate the cells' shape, chemokine secretion and behavior. One such parameter is the production of a focal adhesion protein, which helps cells to stick to surfaces. In cells grown on a flat surface, this adhesion protein, known as vinculin, accumulates around the edges of the cell. However, in cells grown on a 3-D surface, the protein is evenly distributed throughout the cell. These distribution patterns serve as molecular cues to inhibit or activate the pathway that recruits monocytes.
Precise control
The findings could help scientists manipulate their scaffolds to tailor cells to specific applications. One goal is using implanted cells to recruit other body cells that will do a particular task, such as inducing stem cells to differentiate into a certain type of cell. "By designing the matrix before we seed the cells, we can engineer which factors they are going to secrete," Indolfi says.
The work should also help researchers improve on existing tissue-engineered devices and test new ones, Edelman says. "Without this kind of understanding, we can't extend successful technologies to the next generation," he says.
The research was funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, and the David H. Koch Foundation.

DUBAI (Reuters) - Rescue workers in Iran on Tuesday recovered more bodies three days after two powerful earthquakes struck the northwest of the country, killing more than 300 people, but officials played down reports that casualty numbers may still sharply rise.
The quakes, with magnitudes of 6.4 and 6.3, struck East Azerbaijan province on Saturday afternoon, flattening villages and injuring thousands of people around the towns of Ahar, Varzaghan, and Harees, near the provincial capital Tabriz.
A rescue team using sniffer dogs had pulled out the body of a young woman in the village of Sorkhgav, Fars news agency reported on Tuesday, and was close to finding others.
Another report, by Iran's Labour news agency, said hundreds of villages had suffered severe damage, raising fears that the number of dead could mount sharply as rescuers reach previously inaccessible areas.
However, officials dismissed the idea that the number of fatalities could rise significantly, saying the eventual figure may in fact be lower than current estimates.
"Many figures are based on speculation and have not been documented," Behram Samadi Rad, a provincial coroner, said. "We cannot give a precise figure for the number of dead but we believe it will be under 300."
State TV said two people had been found alive under the rubble in a village near the city of Varzaghan on Tuesday.
"They are both in good condition," the report said.
In Tehran, Karaj and Qom, thousands visited clinics late into the night to donate blood, Press TV reported, including Iran's Olympic gold medal-winning weight lifter, Behdad Salimi.
"I truly feel terrible for the people of East Azerbaijan. I want to do what I can to help them. The most important thing is to donate blood because of the shortage," he said.
PUBLIC CRITICISM
The Iranian Red Crescent Society said it has provided temporary shelter to around 50,000 people and that the priority was to prevent the spread of illness.
State television has shown extensive footage of airdrops and of officials handing out food rations and tents, after the media was accused of ignoring the national disaster and continuing to broadcast normal schedules.
After visiting the afflicted area on Monday, Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi announced emergency funds for the relief effort and appeared to indicate the government had not reacted quickly enough.
"In these conditions, any criticism the people have of us is acceptable and we must all work as hard as possible for their sake," Mehr news agency reported him as saying.
Twenty battalions of the armed forces have been deployed to tend to the wounded, distribute relief items and provide heavy machinery to move rubble, Mehr reported.
Iran's government has come under criticism for its response to two earthquakes. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's trip to Saudi Arabia exposed him to accusations that he was not showing sufficient empathy with the victims.
Meanwhile, a quake with a magnitude of 5.3 on Tuesday and more than 20 minor aftershocks added to the suffering of many who have lost their homes and loved ones and are now living in makeshift camps.
According to the ISNA news agency, up to 70 percent of residences in Iran are not strong enough to withstand moderate earthquakes, let alone those with a magnitude of 6.0 or more.
"In most towns and villages, if an earthquake struck, between 60 and 70 percent of residential buildings would collapse," said Baitullah Setarian, a housing expert.

When you have kids you can look forward to going home at the end of the day no matter how bad your day on the course turned out because of hitting a bad shot you can look up to them to cuddle you and ease your tiredness. After the day ends you could come to realize that having kids wasn't that bad after all. Woods even said that he won't exchange the glory of fatherhood with any precious trophies and golf titles in the world.
Having kids and being given the responsibility sustaining them is like buying your own cart parts and accessories. If you are a die-hard fan of the sport of golf then buying the perfect accessory becomes a big deal for you because you would not just purchase something without trying to understand and learn the proper way of handling it for you and your golf cart accessory to have a long-time bond and share experiences that can be treasured for life.
Same goes with entering the responsibility of fatherhood. The time you are blessed with a child the responsibility of protecting and giving all the needs of the child to grow. On the process of giving you don't only give financial assistance,<a href="http://hojhoijh.mommysbestfriends.com/2012/05/23/how-to-make-money-going-green-staying-lean/" target="_blank" style="text-decoration: none;">How to Make Money Going Green & Staying Lean</a>, but more of an emotional investment. Same with your desire to bond with your golf cart accessories for a long time. While watching your child grow investments of emotions is being given as you long to be with your child even if you hair turns gray. No parents especially daddies would want to lose their child by any means. Every dad ensures their child's safety thus protecting them from any harm,<a href="http://209.15.222.57/newblog/wutao513/2012/06/28/the-elements-of-plot/" target="_blank" style="text-decoration: none;">The Elements of Plot</a>,<a href="http://2moons.dealingame.com">buy 2moons dil</a>,<a href="http://www.tumblr.com/blog/jamy123" target="_blank" style="text-decoration: none;">a New Audience</a>, in comparison for buying the perfect golf car parts. Owners are very discreet with the issue of safeties to avoid unexpected accidents that may result to anyone getting hurt.
When men reached the age of Fatherhood hesitations of playing golf comes as an issue especially if you are in the point of your life where you are expected to fulfil your duty as the father for your child. This dilemma should never happen because proper balance of your time or time management as the professionals would call it can be an answer to that. But of course you should not treasure your cart accessories more than your children because playing golf should be just a past time not your life. Learning to prioritize your family first is a must before indulging yourself to golf related matters. Provide first the need of your children and spoil them before thinking of overhauling your golf cart and buying the newly released golf cart accessories. By this way you can enjoy the best of both worlds with the joy of being a father and the feeling of fulfilment as you get the chance to do your golf courses.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ? U.S. Bancorp says service has been restored at its 8,000 automatic teller machines across the nation following a two-hour outage.
The owner of Minneapolis-based U.S. Bank says a power failure in Oregon led to ATM outages Saturday between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. EDT.
Bank spokesman Tom Joyce says the problems were sporadic and power was restored in geographic blocks over time. He says not all 8,000 machines were down for the entire two hours.
Joyce says the failures weren't due to hacking or security violations. He says the entire network should be back online and working fine.
U.S. Bank has more than 3,000 bank offices in 25 states. It's the fifth-largest commercial bank in the U.S., with $353 billion in assets.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? NASA picked three aerospace companies Friday to build small rocketships to take astronauts to the International Space Station.
This is the third phase of NASA's efforts to get private space companies to take over the job of the now-retired space shuttle. The companies will share more than $1.1 billion. Two of the ships are capsules like in the Apollo era and the third is closer in design to the space shuttle.
Once the spaceships are built, NASA plans to hire the private companies to taxi astronauts into space within five years. Until they are ready, NASA is paying Russia about $63 million per astronaut to do the job.
In a statement, NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said the move "will help keep us on track to tend the outsourcing of human spaceflight."
NASA hopes that by having private firms ferry astronauts into low Earth orbit, it can focus on larger long-term goals, like sending crews to a nearby asteroid and eventually Mars. The private companies can also make money in tourism and other non-NASA business.
The three companies are the Boeing Co. of Houston, Space Exploration Technologies, called SpaceX, of Hawthorne, Calif., and Sierra Nevada Corp. of Louisville, Colo.
They are quite different companies. Boeing is one of the oldest and largest space companies with a long history of building and launching rockets and working for NASA, going back to the Mercury days. SpaceX is a relatively new company started by Elon Musk, who helped create PayPal and runs the electric car company Tesla Motors. Sierra Nevada has been in the space business for 25 years but mostly on a much smaller scale than Boeing.
NASA's commercial crew development program started with seven companies. The other companies that were not chosen can still build private rocketships and NASA still has the option to hire them to ferry astronauts at a later date, NASA spokesman Trent Perrotto said.
Boeing is slated to get the most money, $460 million for its seven-person CST-100 capsule. It would launch on an Atlas rocket, with the first test flight 2016. The company won't say how much it would charge NASA per seat, but it will be "significantly lower" than the Russian price, said John Mulholland, Boeing vice president. He said Boeing's long experience in working with NASA on human flight gives it a "leg up" on its competitors.
SpaceX is already in the lead in the private space race. The company earlier this year used their Falcon rocket to launch their Dragon capsule into orbit. It docked with the space station and successfully delivered cargo. NASA plans to give the company $440 million. The capsule holds seven people and will have its first test launch with people in 2015, said spokeswoman Kirstin Brost Grantham. The company will charge NASA about $20 million per seat, she said.
Sierra Nevada's mini-shuttle crew vehicle called Dream Chaser carries seven people and could be flown without a pilot. NASA would give them $212.5 million. The ship is based on an old NASA test ship design but hasn't flown as much as SpaceX's Dragon. "It may appear as though we are behind but in many ways we are more mature," said Sierra Nevada space chief Mark Sirangelo. Like Boeing's Mulholland, he said his firm will charge NASA less than the Russians, but won't give a specific price.
Nowadays, many consumers are leveraging the World Wide Web to find product reviews before they make purchases.
In fact, one eMarketer study even notes that consumer reviews are 12 times more trusted than product information or descriptions that are provided by businesses. this means that in order to succeed on the web, retailers should be aware of the social sentiment that is buzzing around their products.
One way this can be done is with Decide.com, which is a shopping site that aims to help consumers make better purchasing decisions. The company recently launched a new feature called Decide Score, which analyzes ratings and reviews from across the Web, including 7,000 expert reviews and two million user reviews from sites like Amazon and Best buy,?in order to provide consumers with reliable product recommendations.
The Decide Score is displayed as a 1-100 rating, and enables consumers to easily identify the best and worst products available in each category. The beta version of the score currently appears on 22,000 consumer electronics and appliance products across 16 categories. The best part about the product scores is that it is very easy for consumers to tell what each score means, because the four categories of scores are pretty self explanatory ? we love it, we like it, You can Do better and Don't buy it. it is also important to note that if the product recommendation is "we love It" or "we like it," Decide provides consumers with confidence in purchasing the item. However, if the recommendation is "You can Do Better" or "Don't buy it," the company offers alternative suggestions of similarly priced products with a better score.
Decide also launched "Buy" and "Wait" price predictions in three new areas ? Tools and Hardware, Lawn and Garden Products and Sports and Outdoor Equipment. this feature tells consumers when it is a good time to buy a product, based on potential price drops or increases.
"Decide leverages big data to make complex shopping decisions easy for consumers" says Mike Fridgen, CEO of Decide.com. "First we introduced when to buy predictions and today we take an important step towards becoming the next-generation consumer advocate by releasing data-driven what to buy recommendations."
It is always important to monitor your brand or business's reputation on the Web, so although this is a consumer-focused tool, it could definitely provide some merchants with valuable insights into how their products are being received by the general public.

Jurors in California have begun hearing evidence in an intellectual property lawsuit filed over cell phones manufactured by Apple and Samsung Electronics. The lawsuit alleges that Samsung violated Apple?s patents by utilizing technology in Samsung smartphones that had been developed by Apple. The trial is part of an ongoing two-year legal battle between Apple and several companies that it claims violated its patent rights, including Google, HTC, Motorola, and Samsung.
According to the lawsuit, Apple alleges that Samsung deliberately violated its designs for the iPhone and iPad, two of Apple?s best-selling products, both in terms of how they were designed and how users would interact with the devices. Samsung has countered that Apple is using its patents to ?stifle legitimate competition and limit consumer choice to maintain its historically exorbitant profits.?
So far, judicial rulings in the lawsuits involving Apple?s patent rights have been mixed. In June 2012, Judge Lucy Koh ruled that Samsung had infringed on an Apple patent and placed a preliminary injunction on Samsung to prevent the company from selling its Galaxy Nexus smartphone. However, it a separate ruling, Judge Richard Posner threw out a lawsuit involving Apple and Google?s Motorola Mobility phone, rejecting both Apple?s broad patent claims and Motorola?s requests to receive large payments from Apple based on the use of its own patents.
Technology experts say that the outcome of the ongoing legal battle between Apple and its competitors could shape the face of the smartphone industry for years to come. Although patents can be easily obtained, their real-life value is largely determined by how they are judged in court. A few rulings that favor one side of the other in the smartphone intellectual property litigation could provide one company with a strong competitive advantage in the future. This could provide the basis for settlements that would allow one company to license another?s technology?or give a company the opportunity to keep its patented technologies exclusive from its competitors.
